ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Team Leader – Health Services will oversee a team of 10 Payroll Officers, managing day-to-day operations for a large workforce
across hospital and allied health services. This full-time, permanent role suits a healthcare payroll professional with strong systems knowledge, EBA expertise, and a
hands-on leadership style. Responsibilities include training new staff, overseeing a shared Teams mailbox, and ensuring process compliance. Hybrid flexibility is offered
following an initial onsite onboarding.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee weekly payroll processing across the health services division

Manage and support a team of 10 Payroll Officers

Ensure payroll compliance with several EBAs and relevant health sector awards

Monitor and respond to payroll queries via a shared Teams mailbox and ticketing
system -
Train new team members and ensure adherence to documented processes

Provide guidance on taxation, leave types, and complex backpays
-
Maintain a supportive team culture with coverage planning (e.g., leave coordination)
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
-
5+ years of payroll experience, ideally in the public health, or allied health sector
-
Proven team leadership or supervisory experience (3–5+ direct reports preferred)

Strong working knowledge of PayGlobal and RosterOne (Prefered)

Experience navigating complex EBAs, awards, and compliance obligations
-
Ability to manage deadlines, train others, and enforce process consistency

Strong understanding of tax (including marginal tax), leave accruals, and backpay
processes -
Excellent communication and team-oriented mindset

PAYROLL SYSTEMS OFFICER

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Reporting into the Payroll Systems Officer, this role is perfect for someone who has payroll experience, solid systems acumen, and is looking to grow. You'll act as a support across payroll and rostering platforms — troubleshooting issues, updating EBAs/awards, and assisting with system configuration. It's a hands-on, detail-driven role in a business that values people and quality.
You’ll be working closely with the wider HR and Employee Relations teams and be supported by a collegiate group of payroll systems professionals support the business. The role offers variety, growth, and the opportunity to contribute to meaningful improvements in systems and processes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Troubleshoot payroll and rostering system issues and support user access across the organisation

Configure updates to reflect award and EBA changes (especially Health and SHADS Awards)

Assist with reporting, compliance tasks, and audits (e.g., Department of Health reporting)

Work on system upgrades and annual year-end processes
-
Generate reporting (e.g., month-end, variances, backpays)
-
Export and validate data to ensure smooth processing (especially Mondays and Tuesdays)
-
Act as a backup for payroll officers as needed
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
-
Previous payroll experience, ideally within Health, Aged Care, or Home Care
-
Strong Excel skills – pivot tables, IF statements, and macros (advantageous)

Payroll systems experience is essential – PayGlobal, RosterOn, Workday highly regarded
-
Ability to learn quickly, follow structured processes, and meet tight timelines
-
Good understanding of awards, superannuation, and compliance reporting
-
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
